HS: TeamSnap Boys All-America update

More than 400 fall- and winter-playing high school boys players will make the cut for the Fall TeamSnap All-America Watch List and Winter TeamSnap All-America Watch List.

Players, through coaches recommendations and TopDrawerSoccer staff observations, will be added each week to the list as performances warrant. The only players that will be removed from the list will be athletes who are no longer playing high school soccer or sustain a season-ending injury that will take them out of all-state consideration.

Here are recent performances and updates from players on the TeamSnap All-America Watch Lists:

BOYS

* Aedan Boriotti, [Christian Brothers nj-m] (N.J.), Sr., GK: Boriotti, who recently committed to Rutgers, recorded 14 shutouts while helping Christian Brothers to a 24-1 season, winning the Shore Conference Tournament and New Jersey Non-Public A state title. Boriotti had 65 saves during the season.

* Joshua Jackson, Montverde Academy (Fla.), Sr., F: One of many major college prospects, Jackson scored a goal in each of Montverde Academy’s three victories at the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament (MAST), which capped a seventh straight undefeated season for the Eagles. Jackson was named to the MAST All-Tournament team.

* Christian Perez, Paramount (Calif.), Sr. F: Fast and deadly best define Perez’s game. When Paramount’s expected leading scorer was sidelined this year, Perez has risen to the top of Paramount’s offense and helped the team to a runner-up finish at MAST. Perez scored three goals in an opening round victory over Pembroke Pines Charter (Fla.), and his goal in a 4-1 loss to Montverde Academy in the final allowed him to share the Golden Boot honor with Montverde’s Kizza Edward.

* Kyle Schmitt, St. Paul's (La.), Jr., GK: The past two years, St. Paul’s placed second and fourth at the MAST, yet the team actually has never won a match outright. All three times the team advanced it was thanks to shootout victories, and all three times it was Schmitt who delivered two-save efforts in the shootout. He pulled it off twice in 2016, and then last week he made two saves in an opening round match as St. Paul’s edged fellow SIMA FAB 50-ranked Gulliver Prep (Fla.). Schmitt ended up receiving the “Save of the Tournament” honor this year for his performance against Gulliver.

NOTE: The fall All-America watch list includes only players from high school teams that compete during the fall season. The Winter All-America watch list was released in November and includes players from the seven winter-playing states, and the Spring All-America watch list will follow in February.
